I started by painting a simple with some simple brush touches on a mix of blue, black and white acrylics. I then used the painting program in my Windows 8 system to give it an outline and an ear

Waterfall & Waterfall 2
Waterfall 2 is similar to Waterfall, except that I added some green and put it on a two by three foot canvas. My orginal Waterfall is on a nine by twelve inch canvas.

Street
This landscape was a responce to a request to make a more realistic piece. The buildings were outlined in red paint, and I colored them with red and other colors on my brush, varying the direction of strokes, along with color and tone. Next time I will also separate the buildings. when several share a side of the street.

first abstract art lesson
One thing I have learned is that abstract art does not have to look real. It does not have to look good. It has to be wrong. So, for your first lesson, I want you to draw, paint, or otherwise create art, wrong. Draw with your left hand, or if you are a lefty, use your right. Do other things to spoil your art, like, smearing lines or color. spill color. Figuratively, blow your nose in it!
Now, forgetting it's wrongness, how do you like it?

Octopus' Garden
I had a dry spell for a month or more, then, I decide to do something simple, just to get my mind and hands working artistically again. I have a friend who's a Beatles fan, so I threw this on a canvas, He loved it. Unfortunately, my camera didn't. It is a bit blurred. Normally, I'd use my scanner, but that was giving me problems, at the time.Tuesday, November 13, 2012

Goldfish II
This was done along with my teacher, Robert Sievert, at Staten Island's Art Lab. I painted the fish with a little green background. Robert spread and thinned the green.

Rainbow Face
This was an experiment in detail. I don't have much patience. I normally get a picture done in about an hour. This time, I made myself take a lot of time on a lot of detail. Unfotrunately, it wasn't shot well due to my shaky hands. At 16X20, it was too large for my scanner. It was painted with acrylics.
