July Text Writing

This is something new for this blog. Usually I just display my latest art pieces on this blog, but I was reading that it would be good for any art fans and viewers of this blog to know what I've been doing lately, so, as far as my art goes, this is what I've done lately
I've decided to submit more pieces to contests run by the Light, Space & Time online art gallery. While I have never outright won any of their contests or even came close, several times they saw fit to display my work with other great entries and theirvwere even a few times when they said my work had special merit or deserved special recognition, so I decided to enter all three of their current contests.
For their Primary Colors contest, I entered two copies of my Dog With Glasses prints, one in red and the other in blue.

For their Animal contest, I again entered my red Dog With Glasses, but this time added my photographic collage, my Dog Nosed Washington.

Their third contest was honoring their tenth anniversary, so I could enter ten pieces for $10.
      They include:
Demon Eye

Circles & Red Square

Acrylic paint on 8" X 10" canvas board

My Street Light

You've seen street lights with the words,
WALK and DON'T?
I thought I'd add a few of my own,
WALK, CAUTION, DON'T WALK, SKIP, HOP AND DANCE
Note the dancing bus and the dancing people on the sidewalk.
Done with acrylic paint on 8" X 10" canvas board.

March 10 2020 Abstract Art Class in class projects

Diagonal Rectangle And Others

Off-Center Sun

The Three Disgraces

I told you about my Abstract Art Class assignment to make a piece involving  three people or characters.  My teacher showed us versions of the classic piece, the Three Graces. This immediately made me ask, has anybody thought of a piece called The Three Disgraces? My teacher said no, but you could try that.

My first thought was simply to take a version of The Three Graces and pasting a copy of Alfred E Newman's face on them, but, while one teacher said it was fine, the other wasn't happy with it, so I painted something of my own design using acrylic paint on my pad of  Strathmore mixed media paper.

I painted three ugly women in a bath house. They were originally supposed to be a fat woman, an extremely thin woman, and an extremely hairy woman. The hairy woman didn't quite work out, but I love her anyway.  Yes, my drawing ability is terrible, especially with a paint brush, but I love the way the colors I mixed turned out. I loved the flesh tones I developed and even though the hairy woman doesn't really look hairy, I love her coloring too.

Two Three Headed Valentines

These two pieces, made with red and black acrylic paint on a six inch square canvas board and an eight by ten mixed media art board, were originally made for my Abstract Art Class assignment to make a piece involving three people or characters. Unfortunately, my teacher wasn't happy with these, saying it was too late for Valentine's Day, so I had to think of something else.

I Love To Paint

This was a project done in Abstract art class with words painted in warm colors on top of cool.
This was all done with acrylic paint on an
eight by ten inch art board.

Abstract Landscape

This was for my first abstract art class assignment, which was to make an abstract landscape. I used an 8" X 10" canvas board. I used a paint knife to half mix yellow ochre and burnt umber acrylic paint for the ground and ultra-marine & cobalt blue for the sky, then green, black and iridescent violet for the tree and flower
