Latest Tree (Or Bush)
As I mentioned before, I got a new application for my tablet, Acrylic Painting Ideas, by Cakdroid. It had an idea I decided to try, a tree, or bush, with leaves of various colors. That struck me as a way to experiment with acrylic colors. For once, I tried using a five and a half inch by eight and a half inch page from my Strathmore mixed media book, which was handy, rather than one of my usual canvas panels. I made a grassy bottom with various shades of green and black strokes, a black tree base with branches, then started my color experiments. The only thing that gave me any trouble was what background to use, behind the tree, above the grass? I tried several background colors, then put some blue on top of what I had already tried, which came out interesting
One more thing.
Because I painted on paper, this piece isn't quite flat.
Unintended Watercolor Abstract
I got some new art applications for my tablet, Abstract Art Ideas, by Novtie Apps, and Acrylic Painting Ideas, by Cakdroid. I decided to try an idea from Abstract Ideas, for which I tried using my watercolor paints. I haven't used them in a while because I have trouble controlling them. They tend to run in ways I can't control. For this reason, I intend to take a class in watercolors at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, at the University of Delaware, starting in September.
As usual, they ran in this painting too and I didn't get what I intended, but, as it is, it isn't bad.

Warhol Goop
But, I have never done a stab at Warhol before, so I give you a can of Warhol Vegtable Goop, done with acrylic paint on 8" X 10" canvas board.

Apple
I've started taking a wax encaustic painting class again, at the Osher Lifelong Learning Center, at the University of Delaware. I tried taking it last year, but had to quit, due to scheduling conflict. We're studying it under Ms Cesarine, using her book,
Waxing & Waning: the Art of Mediatative Painting, by Petra Cesarine
It's done with a canvas board, an old magazine page, tempera paint, the first time I ever used such paint, gesso, wax paper and a two inch brush.
Apply gesso to the board, then cover it with the magazine page and cover that with gesso. You then apply your wax paper to that mess. eventually you can remove the wax paper and the wax will stick and you can begin painting. It's a little more complicated than that, but that's the basic.

So far, under her direction, I made this apple, which I'm rather proud of. I think it looks pretty good.
